This gallery contains images shot in the moment, with little to no prep. Mostly using available light and space, and minimal expression to tell a story through the eyes alone.
The gallery cover, for instance, is my mom. I worked in a camera shop in my mid-20s and came home with a new lens one day. Mom was outside tending her garden in the late afternoon sun as I leapt out of the car and told her to come over so I could take her portrait. It was her birthday, and I’ll never forget this moment. I could never sum my mom up in a better photo - she’s been a literal and figurative gardener my whole life, selflessly tending to living things in need.
